Rathmann Septic Systems roots can be traced back to 1945 when Kosmatine Plumbing was established by Richard W. Kosmatine. Kosmatine Plumbing focused mainly on new residential and commercial plumbing, septic system installation and industrial process piping.
In 1962, Robert Rathmann, step son of Richard Kosmatine, joined the family business.
With Bob’s participation the business grew to include many large residential and commercial septic systems installations. Many new emerging technologies were learned and put into practice as the industry changed environmentally.
In 1976, Bob established his own company, Rathmann Septic Systems focusing mainly on residential new construction, septic systems, commercial construction and industrial process piping. Rathmann Septic Systems soon began to grow. Ever larger and more complex septic system installations were contracted and installed. Soon system design and permitting operations were added. The business expanded into excavating equipment ownership, adding more employees, and ever larger, more challenging jobs.
In 1982, Steve Rathmann, one of Bob’s three sons joined the family business. Working side by side with Bob and Richard Kosmatine, who joined the company in 1984, Steve was trained by both his father and grandfather. Mark Rathmann and Robert Rathmann Jr. also were employees for many years. Steve has been extremely instrumental in expanding this family business to include numerous projects both large and small.
After 30 years of continuous growth, Rathmann Septic Systems was combined with the parent company, Rathmann Plumbing & Heating, Inc. and incorporated in 2006. Steve became president of the expanded company.
